Disposal Methods of Expired and Unused Medications among the General Public in Al-Bayda City

Medication disposal is a hot topic in pharmacy today, and it rapidly gaining the attention of more professionals consumers alike. Improper expired or unused medications has been reported to create serious consequences on healthcare environment. This study was performed determine how residents Al-Bayda, north-eastern region Libya, dispose their discuss possible impact improper medication humans, animals, Data collected over six months within Al-Bayda city as people were approached randomly invited participate by filling out questionnaire examine medicine habits. With responses from 925 participants, survey found that 77.3 % disposed medicines with household waste, 6.9 flushed down sink toilet, 4 gave them relatives friends, 2.8 returned pharmacy, 9 do not know. Campaigns run health care professionals, mainly pharmacists they have potential role raise public awareness regarding appropriate ways medicines, will promote practices.
